‘Kegs and Eggs’ at FIG

A post by The Missus at

FIG Restaurant at The Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, is the latest star shining brightly on Los Angeles’ westside. Having read their review in the LA Times, I was delighted to see another organic restaurant close to home that not only got a good review but also seemed to have integrity in their concept:
“At FIG, we put ingredients first. Our menu is built around what’s in peak season and we are always seeking out the region’s best growers and producers.  Continue reading »

While I visited Green City Market last fall , I had yet to reap the benefits of their summer produce until this past weekend. And with purple rain carrots (pictured above) to squash blossoms to tables of fresh herbs to the best raspberries I have ever tasted, there was certainly a lot to see (and taste). I wish I lived closer to the market so I’d be able to pick up this awesome produce every weekend but regardless, I’ll definitely make an effort to go back more regularly.  Continue reading »

I had a craving yesterday as I was making a roast dinner for some pudding so I had a look through the crazy amount of recipes I have bookmarked online and came across Sticky Toffee Pudding by The Daily Spud (one very talented blogger who beat me to win the much coveted Irish Blog Award for the Best Food/Drink Blog in 2009!). I had all the ingredients to had/good substitutes for ones I didn’t have so I had to make it!  Continue reading »

Prepare to be amazed
I think preparation is key for each wedding day. I always try to visit the ceremony and reception venues, and especially the bridal party photo shoot location beforehand. That way I can really get the most out of a location and don’t waste any time on the day.  Continue reading »

:: Chocolate Chip Cookies

A post by noreply@blogger.com (Donal) at The Good Mood Food Blog- Donal Skehan

This recipe is probably the closest one to the way I like my Chocolate Chip Cookies to be, I adpated it from this recipe from the King Arthur Flour website and it seems to be pretty foolproof.  The cookies are crunchy and chewy all at the same time, which, in my books is a winner!  Continue reading »

I have seen chefs make marshmallow a few times and have often thought about giving it a go, but never have. When this challenge came up I was keen to give it my best shot and my Fiance was also extremely excited about the prospect of chocolate covered goodies.
The cookies seemed to come out well so then was the challenge of the marshmallow.  Continue reading »

Some special offers this week include:

Is anyone still shopping up north (I ask gingerly)? With price cuts at pretty much every Irish supermarket, are prices here now matching up to those in the north? Here’s a…  Continue reading »
