The arrival of Bunsen Burger on Dublin’s Wexford Street has got me thinking. Where is the best burger in Dublin to be found? A few quick questions on Twitter, and I had assembled a list of candidates. Some were obvious like Jo’Burger, Bunsen and The Counter. Others were a little less obvious.
Not all burgers are created equal and everyone has a different opinion. Some prefer the more American (broiled) style, while others choose the gourmet burger style.  Continue reading »

I apologise in advance as I rarely post 2 sweet recipes one after another. I’m scraping the bottom of the fridge and freezer to use up my ingredients. I’ve done my usual store cupboard stock take and found a couple of bits that needed using up. I know, I know, it’s such a hardship to eat an Ice Cream Cake in the warm weather.  Continue reading »

To say that I am thrilled about making the front cover of this week’s Irish Country Living would certainly be an under-statement. For those outside of Ireland this is the paper within the Irish Farmer’s Journal}. Growing up on a farm in rural Ireland the Irish Farmer’s Journal was always an essential part of the weekly reading and an ever important referencing tool.  Continue reading »

NECTRESSE™ Sweetener tastes like sugar and is naturally zero calories per serving. How? We started with the deliciously sweet extract of monk fruit and combined it with the perfect blend of other natural sweeteners. It’s 100% natural with nothing artificial. You’re going to love the way it tastes, because we sure do!  Continue reading »

We seem to have a little ritual going on in LMUTB HQ at the moment. Every Sunday we head out for a drive, usually to a vantage point overlooking the sea somewhere. On the way Mr. LMUTB likes to drive past a certain coffee shop, pull up and throw me out of the car to run in to get him a Frappuccino. Now I’m not the biggest fan of the coffee served by this place, but I will drink it in a pinch, and I’ve become a little fed up of going in for just the one drink.  Continue reading »

Best of Local Food at Cronin’s Pub

The warm weather draws us to the seaside and Wednesday was no exception. Enjoyed a short walk along the waters leading to Crosshaven and that soon led to a lovely lunch at Cronin’s Pub in the village.
Didn’t expect so much choice here. Soups and Pate were available. Could have had a lamb burger or the vegetarian dish of the day.  Continue reading »

The other night I stopped by my local Noodles & Co. for a late dinner. When I approached the counter I was immediately took back my go-to order when I saw their new Seasonal Dishes from Your World Kitchen summer items. Needless to say, I had to try and tell you about them.
Now, I love Noodles & Co. Pasta is my favorite food and not having to make it myself. It’s a treat. Needless to say their flavor combos are something I try making at home, but alas I can never seem to get right.  Continue reading »

Dublin on a very sunny Sunday. Surely there’s nothing finer. Except for the fact that I had stepped off a transatlantic flight that very morning and had gone straight to bed to catch up on some sleep. As the sun shone outside, I was snoozing in my darkened bedroom. But eventually, common sense prevailed and I got up to enjoy some of the day.
Airplane food is a combination of excitement and depression.  Continue reading »

Homemade Vitamin Water

A post by HaleySoehn at Chew On That

I was a fan of store-bought vitamin drinks for a long time.  I read the promising labels and felt great about my purchase!  Well, at least until I did a bit of research.
Those pre-made vitamin drinks are actually filled with a boat load of sugar and processed ingredients.  As a general rule, I don’t like eating things I can’t pronounce.  Ferric pyrophosphate and anthocyanins, I’m talking about you!  Continue reading »

I know I have been mentioning the weather A LOT in my posts lately, but for those outside of Ireland it is really unprecedented for us to enjoy such a prolonged spell of hot and sunny weather. Now that I seem to have acclimatised I am really embracing it and enjoying spending the majority of my time in the garden. On Saturday Mr. LMUTB said we should go for a picnic in the afternoon. He headed off out for a little while, and I sat in the kitchen pondering what food to bring.  Continue reading »

Rampant rabbit

A post by The Beer Nut at The Beer Nut

Bit of a gusher, the Fort Lapin Tripel, bounding out of the bottle to form an ice-white layer of foam over a dark orange body. It smells juicer than your average tripel, with strong notes of jaffa and mandarin. Bunny hops.
It comes on a little hot and heavy on tasting: I detect some aftershave in there, cedar and pine, and a bready weight.  Continue reading »

Lamb Chuan’r (Kebabs)

A post by shananigans at Shananigans Blog

I haven’t been writing much for the last while. Various minor and major illnesses among family and close friends have conspired to interfere with my concentration. But today is my birthday (and my Mum’s, yes we share the same date – happy birthday Mum!) so it’s time to to put the traumas of the first half of the year behind and turn to happier thoughts.  Continue reading »

We were at a pre-wedding family get together in New Zealand some years ago, right before one of the Husband’s sisters got married – and I was checking out the buffet table. It was the first time that we had met her future husband’s clan, with all the slight awkwardness that implies, and there’s no better…  Continue reading »

Spin’n Stor Bags®

A post by StephanieK at Chew On That

Allow me to explain myself. I haven’t lost my mind. Nor is this an attempt to pay homage to our Neanderthal ancestors. All I wanted was to dry my salad in a simple manner. Who knew you could get a workout in as well? This invention is either pure genius or absolutely unnecessary. Well, at least my salad’s dry.

Prior to my Spin’n Stor experience, I’d wash my salad greens by rubbing them under a running faucet and give them a little shake to get them dry.  Continue reading »
